Community and Regional Planning students envision future of the Fort Washington Office Park

The Fort Washington Office Park a location that employs 14,000 people is suffering from a crisis of age.

Originally developed in the mid-1950s, the 563 acre office park in Upper Dublin Township was one of the first of its type in suburban Philadelphia. Built within a natural basin, many of the buildings were erected long before there were laws in place to prevent building within floodplains. Read more

Cheltenham Township has the distinction of being one of the closest suburban communities to Philadelphia.

In the event of an emergency involving the city, Cheltenham would play a significant role in emergency management.

With such a key role to play, students in the Community and Regional Planning 501: Planning Studio have taken the semester to develop a Shelter-in-Place/Evacuation Manual to supplement the township's emergency management plan. Read more

These are questions that planners ask themselves every day.

The planning studio is designed to be a cumulative experience for undergraduates in Community and Regional Planning. Working in teams and independently, students are given the opportunity to synthesize the skills, knowledge, and methods of community and regional planning practice by applying them in a real-world setting.
