The Ambler Interdisciplinary CLA program was designed for students who wish to combine courses from various CLA departments and develop a cohesive program of interest.

12 courses are required totaling a minimum of 36 s.h.
Students select one department (the concentration department) in which five (5) courses (3) Upper Level: CLA courses numbered 100 or above) are taken. Then seven (7) additional courses, in a minimum of three different departments outside of the concentration department, are chosen. Of the twelve (12) courses, 24 s.h. (8 courses) must be Upper Level CLA.  One Upper Level course must be writing intensive.

Note: All 12 courses for the major must be chosen from the departments on the humanities list or all 12 courses must be chosen from the departments on the Social Science list.

Theme
The 12 courses (36 s.h.) required by the major, 8 (24 s.h.) of which are Upper Level CLA courses, must be justified in terms of some thematic unit of cohesive rationale.

Approval Process
The written program proposal must be sponsored by two faculty members from different CLA departments in the chosen area (Humanities or Social Science) and approved by the Ambler Faculty Coordinator and the Ambler Academic Advisor for Liberal Arts.

Call 267-468-8200 for information and additional procedural details.

Grades Required
All courses used for this major must be completed with a C- or better and the average of the 12 courses must be at least 2.0.
